The Church Media Community - the Future of the Media Pastor

most of you probably won't appreciate this article - but Jon will, and I thought it was an interesting discussion - and so you can get some insight into the things I am thinking about and coming across in my work.

I know that the visual arts is becoming more and more important in todays culture. I don't always have the time to develop all the things I would like to do, and I have never had access to a video projector bright enough to use it at church or youth group or club worship or anything (thats my main excuse)

the discussion linked above was basically discussing how a media designer could be looked at as a "media preacher" or "minister of media" both terms I am comfortable with... although I agree that pastoring is a little bit about preaching, but mostly about shepherding/discipling individuals, and not sitting in front of a computer.

lots of stuff going on. The push to Club Worship 3.0 is offially on. We hope to launch everything at our April 9 event where we will also celebrate our 5th year anniversary. www.clubworship.org is the same old web site, and will be until we get our promotions team officially launched to redesign it. There will be much going on the next months. God is good and is really pulling things together... We probably have about 50 volunteers or so connected in some sort of capacity, or interested in connecting - so it is a bit of a daunting task to keep things running smoothly.

Got those CDX digital turntables i mentioned in the last post and they are totally slick! a major tool of worship as far as I am concerned. I hope to be an expert in a matter of days, but I suspect it will take longer than that. I believe that record scratching (the technique of playing the decks usually for Hip hop etc.) is slightly more difficult than playing guitar. So for every good turntablist out there, there are probably 30 people that know something about it, but suck... That would describe me at this point.

I am challenged as I realize that I just spent 1200 on cd players when around the world there are people hurting in major ways. We have given a pretty big chunk of a contribution to MCC before the new year, but i know we will do more before this whole thing is done. Relief work will be happening in Asia for years to come. I have to think about how to best respond. It is hard to comprehend how many peoples lives have been changed radically by that one event... But I guess big things like that happen from time to time. hmmm

Blogging is slowly fading as part of my life. If you are interested, I probably spend more time on Facebook connecting and posting comments these days.
